Waiting For The New One Plus 7? Let’s Have a Look On Leaks.
One Plus 7 seems familiar, you aren’t alone. The device looks very similar to the OnePlus 6T, with a slightly different camera module and a wider earpiece grille. The camera flash now finds itself situated within the camera module design. There is no fingerprint sensor, which means that we’ll be witnessing more of the in-display optical fingerprint scanner. Much like the OnePlus 6T and unlike the OnePlus 7 “Pro”, we see the waterdrop notch that houses the front facing camera, taking away the need of a pop-up selfie camera at the cost of losing some screen real estate.
Only last month we saw some renders of the OnePlus 7 showing new gradient colour options, thanks to Tiger Mobiles, and it looks every bit as gorgeous on the outside in Black Yellow, Black Purple and Cyan Grey as it is rumoured to be on the inside. The concept video from Waqar Khan shown above is more than likely based on these rumours, revealing the upcoming OnePlus 7 in two block colours and two gradients.
Fast-forward to April and the good old case makers have also got into the act, with new renders revealing a notch-free display and triple-lens camera (thought to be 48Mp + 20Mp + 5Mp) at the rear. There’s also a volume rocker on the left side, a power button and alert slider on the right, and a SIM card slot, mic, speaker and USB-C port at the bottom. Why at the bottom? Most probably to make way for the rumoured 16Mp pop-up selfie camera at the top.
When is the One Plus 7 release date?
There has been much talk of OnePlus releasing a 5G phone in the first half of 2019 – before the end of May, according to the company – and at MWC in February it showed off the mystery device hidden behind glass.
It’s thought that this will be a more expensive version of the standard OnePlus 7, which won’t support 5G, and thus it makes sense that both phones launch in May
OnePlus typically launches two flagship phones per year, with the most recent OnePlus 6T announced in late October 2018 and on sale in early November.
Prior to this the OnePlus 6 was announced on 16 May 2018, following the announcement of the OnePlus 5 on 20 June 2017.
How much will the One Plus 7 cost?
Value is a key USP of OnePlus’ flagship smartphone line, and though we’ve come a long way from the £219 OnePlus One we don’t think OnePlus is ready to break the £500 barrier just yet.
The OnePlus 6T starts at £499, and we’ve seen nothing in the rumoured specs to suggest the OnePlus 7 will hike this price any further – at least not for the standard model. We would expect a 5G version to cost more, potentially up to £599.
Online retailer Giztop has ‘leaked’ key details such as the price and specs. We’re almost certain it’s a load of old tosh, especially since the OnePlus 7 comes in more than £70 cheaper than the OnePlus 6T, listed on the site at £426.75/US$569/€500.72.
In the UK it’s possible to buy the OnePlus 6T on contract, which means you don’t need to pay the full amount up front. For the OnePlus 7 this is also expected to be possible in the US, though the 5G version will not go on sale there, according to the company.
